Host a Memorial Day Barbecue at South Winds Apartments
Here at South Winds Apartments in Fall River, MA, we’re happy to provide the amenities for members of our community — like our outdoor grilling area. This month, we have tips for hosting a barbecue for Memorial Day (or any weekend this month) with ideas for themes, invitations, food, and activities.
A theme for your barbecue can be as simple as decorating with colorful balloons and tablecloths, or it can be more detailed than that. For example, a luau theme could include leis for every guest and paper umbrellas in each drink. A few other theme ideas include a western-themed barbecue with lots of hats, and perhaps a saddle and lariat for decoration; or you could go with a beach theme and include plenty of beach balls, sunglasses, and iced drinks.
Whether you’re inviting a few close friends or planning a big blowout, e-invitations make it easy. We like the variety you can find at Punchbowl. When doing the invitations and planning your guest list, make sure to ask about food allergies and preferences.
Grilling up burgers, brats, steaks, or fish fills our need for the main entrée of a barbecue, but don’t stop there! Grilled veggies are the perfect complement to the rest of your meal. Veggie-filled skewers are an easy option — for smaller veggies use a grill pan. Corn on the cob can be grilled in its husk or wrapped in foil. Don’t forget dessert! Grilled pineapple is always a hit, or try grilled peaches served with a dish of vanilla bean ice cream. Yum!
Games and activities are fun ways to get everyone interacting with each other. Bring along a frisbee, a few decks of cards, or games people can play on their phones like Heads Up! (for iPhone and Android).
We hope these ideas spark your imagination to create an amazing barbecue experience. What kind of food do you like to grill? Let us know in the comments so we can all try your recipes. Thanks for reading the South Winds Apartments Blog today.
